John P. Sigerson – Director of Music
A native of Pickering, Ontario, John P. Sigerson has spent the last 32 years vocationally serving in the music ministry of various denominational congregations throughout the Greater Toronto Area. With experience in Anglican, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic and United Churches, John now brings his wealth of musical and liturgical knowledge to enhance the life of Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church.Beginning his first season here at the Trivitt, John works with a philosophy that approaches the "amateur" aspect of church music life in the positive light of having people being involved in the choir for the "love" of singing and making music. The hoped for result will be that our choir will strive to offer a music programme that compares to many long-established church choirs throughout the Diocese of Huron. With a commitment to exploring the richness of sacred music, John has undertaken editing and creating new editions of repertoire, that is in the Public Domain, for his choirs to discover the beauty of. Much of this music has been long neglected from inclusion in church choral programmes and there are many musical gems that deserve restoration. Over time they will be finding their way into the repertoire we offer here at Trivitt. As a teacher of piano, organ, voice and theory, John has been highly regarded by his students for the dedication and inspiration he offers with his instruction. When blessed with free time, John enjoys performing recitals as charity events for support of the life and ministry of the church, outreach being a passion he holds dear.
